Each USB client configures USB devices according to their needs and requirements. That's why after a device is used by a client, it needs to be reinitialized and reset to a defined state in order to accept another client.
The reset function when disconnecting helps to reinitialize the USB device and prepare for the next client.
Unfortunately, not all devices are designed correctly, and some of them are unable to handle reset requests. This is why the USB Forwarder RDP version provides multiple reset methods to achieve maximum compatibility. If your device is not working, the first thing you should try is to change its reset method.
To reset when disconnecting:
1) Double click on the local USB device to open the USB device properties window.
2) Select the USB Forwarder RDP version to be used for the reset method of the device.
There are several types of resets:
- Soft reset - minimal reset.
- Hard Reset - Normal USB hardware reset.
- Re plug and unplug the simulation device. This is the default and most compatible method. Most devices can support it.
⚠️ Important! When using the reinsert simulation reset method, the device will behave as if it were physically reinserted after the USB client is disconnected. This means that the USB device will disappear and reappear after a few seconds. This is the normal behavior of this reset method.
3) Click 'OK' or 'Apply' to save the changes.
